    Carolyn Rust Camp

Carolyn Camp is an Arizona based Appalachian style old- time fiddler. She played classical violin as a young girl, but gave it up by the age of eleven. Years later, music started calling her and she picked up her old violin and began a search for the sound that would resonate with her.

She took some lessons on basic fiddling styles but nothing moved her until she found a video of an old man playing Appalachian style fiddling and that was it, she was hooked! The haunting sounds of an open tuned fiddle and the lively rhythmic bowing style seemed to already be within her, just waiting to be awakened. Then her mother told her that her great-granny was from Ronceverte, WV and had told her stories of an uncle who was a fiddler at the local square dances!

She sought out a fiddle workshop in WV, and came home and started listening to old recordings and learning to play by ear. She plays in the Phoenix based old-time band, Pick & Holler and also in a duo Ronceverte, with Will Vincent.

    MATT KINMAN

Matt Kinman is a renowned and highly regarded fiddler, banjo, guitar, bones player and singer. He possesses a beautiful unique old country-style singing voice that is from the past, seldom heard anywhere else nowadays.

He was born in Tucson, Arizona but his family relocated to Appalachia when he was just a boy. He lived off and on for years in Nashville TN, while still keeping a place near Boone, NC, where he could be nearer the people and music he loved.

He grew up in the tradition of roots music and craftsman ways, finding inspiration and deep connection within that culture. Matt has traversed the country "hitch-hiking, ridin the boxcar, or just walkin down the road" in his pursuit of that connection to our past and the old, endearing and intentional ways of living.

He documented many elder craftspeople and music makers, working hard to preserve the story of their lives and ways. He was an original founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show, has performed on the Grand Ol' Opry, and has also performed with The Roan Mountain Hilltoppers, The Hackensaw Boys, Marty Stuart, Luke Bell and many others.
